Frequently Asked Questions
The first session is a conversation, not an evaluation. You tell us what’s going on, we ask questions to understand the fuller picture, and we both get a sense of whether working together is the right move. There is no pressure to commit after the first meeting.
Individual depth psychotherapy for adults, young adults, adolescents, and children. Couples and marriage counseling. Family therapy. Group therapy. All are available in person at our Del Mar office or via secure video.
Anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, life transitions, grief, self-esteem, identity questions, family conflict, and creative or professional blocks. If you’re unsure whether your situation is something we can help with, reach out and ask.
We practice depth psychotherapy. That means we look beyond surface symptoms to the underlying patterns, relational dynamics, and personal history that keep problems in place. There is no one-size-fits-all protocol — the work is shaped by what you bring and what you actually need.
Standard sessions are 50 minutes. The number of sessions depends entirely on what you’re working through and the pace that makes sense for you. Some people come for a few months; others stay longer. We discuss this openly as we go.
Fees vary by engagement type and are discussed during your initial consultation.
We are out-of-network providers. After each session, we provide a superbill — a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurance company for partial reimbursement. How much you get back depends on your specific plan.
Before starting, it helps to call your insurer and ask: Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits? What is my deductible, and how much has been met? What percentage of out-of-network sessions is reimbursed? Is there a limit on the number of sessions per year?
We have limited availability outside standard business hours. If you need an evening or weekend time, let us know when you reach out and we’ll do our best to accommodate you.
